Its been a taxing week, but if you want to enjoy a fine micro-brew from Oregon, you may be paying more taxes soon. The state government is considering raising taxes on beer. Not a 10% increase, not doubling the tax, but increasing the state beer tax by 19x. Note, that is 19 times the current tax rate, not a super-fine tippet. This will result in a quarter per pint tax, at the source. No telling how much that will be marked up before it hits the tavern or 7-11 cooler.

So, my spey-casting, green-butt skunk tying, intruder-swinging steelheading friends, its time to appreciate fine whiskey. Your other alternative is to buy Chico’s finest ale, the best beer that man ever bottled. Either way, you will be stepping up.
