This is the Shoshone river, taken from the Buffalo Bill Cody dam, just west of Cody, Wy. We visited the visitor center near mid-day in bright sun.

This is a 3-exposure HDR composite image. The right side of the canyon was shadowed, while the left side in full bright sun. The 3 exposures were -2, 0, and +2 from the normal meter. Without this technique, the detail on the right side would not have been visible.
