It’s hot outside, so let’s cool things off a little. Its on the other side of the calendar, but there is always a steelhead season coming up. One pattern that works, at least on the Trinity River in Northern California is the blue Copper John.
Blue Copper John
- Hook: large wet fly hook, Mustad 3906B in size 12, with a gold bead
- Tail: Brown Goose Biots
- Body: Blue Ultra Wire
- Wing Case: Blue Flash-a-bou
- Thorax: Peacock
- Legs: Several fibers of Partridge or Hen, tied on each side (right and left)
- Wing Case: Drop of Epoxy over the blue Flash-a-bou
