Farmed Trout: Good eats

November 20th, 2009 · No Comments

When non-fishing friends ask what I do with all the fish I bring home, they are surprised when I answer that I release almost every fish that I catch.  Many times its more than surprise, but shock. They don’t understand why all that time and effort to just let them go.

I have some friends who are pure catch and release; they will not kill a fish, any fish.  I have others that love to limit out. Regardless of your personal kill ethic, many trout are planted for our enjoyment (and dinner if we want).

Hopefully, you are not buying your farm raised fish from the market, but instead retrieving them from the river or lake of your choice, after having some time living on a natural diet.

Here is Alton Brown’s take on how to prepare these tasty fish. Its good to see some alternatives besides the old butter & lemon wrapped in foil on the grill recipe that we all have nailed down.
